Today is Pink Shirt Day. It's a call to those who have been, and are being bulled right now.
Though bullying might seem like a rite of passage for some, it's actually not. It’s serious.
I love that Pinkshirtday.ca supports such an incredible cause because the reality is that everyone experiences this in some way – high school, at work, people talking behind your back, and even cyber bullying.
Thinking back, I was bullied in junior high. I remember feeling like less of a person, and found myself constantly asking if it would ever get better. I couldn’t see what 10 years later would look like.
If you’re reading this and you feel like you’re a victim of bullying, just know that it does get better. I promise.
Seek help from those who understand, surround yourself with positive people, and give yourself the space you need to keep your sanity in check.
It’s inevitable to control how other people treat you, but it’s in your court to control how you react.
You know who you are, and when you look back at today, you will be surprised by your own strength to withstand.
This thought is what will ultimately carry you through.
